Jealous Dogs & Little Creatures
Friday, January 19th, 8:00pm
The Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi
All-ages ’til 11pm, 21+ after that
Jealous Dogs is Seattle’s Only Pretenders Tribute, snatching their namesake from a deep-cut off Pretenders II.
Comprised of Seattle music scene veterans, this four piece was brought together by a common love and appreciation for the Pretenders blend of new-wave and punk rock.
Sherri Jerome (Strange Jerome) is Chrissie Hynde; attitude and voice blazing. Aaron Taylor fearlessly channels James Honeyman-Scott’s crunchy, melodic guitar riffs. Aimee Zoe and Moe Provencher (MoZo, Jackrabbit) provide the energetic, bouncy rhythm section.
Performing Pretenders hits, B-sides, and rarities, the Jealous Dogs bring a fun, dancin’, rockin’ good time.
On the same bill with Jealous Dogs is a new Island band called Little Creatures. Dust off your over-sized suit and get ready to dance!
Little Creatures—Central Vashon’s only Talking Heads tribute band—will serve up a heaping plateful of highly danceable Talking Heads songs on January 19th at the Red Bicycle.
Whether you lean toward the CBGB-era Talking Heads of the late 1970s, their “middle years” with Brian Eno and Adrian Belew influencing their sound, or their later work incorporating synthesizers and world beats, there will be something for everyone to enjoy when Little Creatures takes the stage. Radio hits, MTV classics and more-obscure “B-sides” are all on the set list. And, they all have one thing in common: a beat you can dance to!
Little Creatures is the brainchild of island musicians and hardcore Talking Heads fans Stephen Buffington (drums) and Andy James (guitar/vocals). They are joined by Dorsey Davis from the Fieldhands (bass/vocals), Rick Vanselow from Fendershine (guitar/vocals), Alex Drissell (keyboard/vocals) and Levin Pugsley (percussion).
From the opening bass line of 1977’s “Psycho Killer” to the rhythms of “(Nothing) But Flowers”, the Red Bike’s dance floor is where you’ll want to be on January 19.
This ain’t no foolin’ around!
The show starts at 8:30pm. This is an all-ages show ’til 11pm, 21+ after that and there is no cover!
