Coming up, November Art at the Red Bicycle

Summer Peet- Summer is a fifteen year old student who has lived on Vashon Island her entire life. She currently attends The Northwest School in Seattle, where she is a sophomore. She dances at the Vashon Dance Academy after school, and enjoys it very much. Some of her favorite activities include traveling, drawing, dancing, and spending time outdoors. She is currently working on getting her medical interpretation certification for Spanish. She was inspired to paint her family’s chickens over the summer vacation and began taking photos from which these paintings and sketches were done.

With no formal training, Kellie Becker is producing a body of work that's whimsical, intricate, guileless and fun. Her abstract acrylic and ink drawings vibrate as Becker's rich imagination emerges in myriad forms. The viewer can't fail to be stimulated by this disparate display. A native of Washington State, she has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in Los Angeles, Seattle and Bellingham, including Infusion Gallery, Prospect Street Cafe, and the Capital Hills Arts Center. Among other venues, her work is included in public and private collections. The artist was one of twelve winners of the Emerging Artist Calendar 2007. Her piece "Underground Influences" appeared on the cover of What's Up Magazine, and she is published in the Book Art Press periodical -New Art International 2009.
