NEW YEARS EVE-ADRIAN XAVIER & FRIENDS-FEATURING SARAH CHRISTINE PLUS DJ STICKY
Although listeners may immediately identify Adrian Xavier's songwriting as situated in the Reggae genre from the sound and potent messages, a careful listen can sail them through World fusions, elements of Folk, warm isles of smooth Soul, Dub, Jazz, even Rock and Hip-Hop, revealing an artist who is an intrepid traveler in the musical as well as geographic sense.
Adrian Xavier's brought together some of Seattle's most influential musicians to record and tour, The Adrian Xavier Band, has blossomed into a all-star cast of musicians from a full spectrum of backgrounds. The band makes wide circles geographically collectively having produced or played music in China, France, Bali, Canada, Hawaii, Japan, Jamaica and beyond.
With the 2004 release of the debut album R-Nature, Adrian Xavier received international acclaim for the break out songs "Mother Nature", "R-Love R-Creation" & Redemption Road. Collaborating with many major talents such as Alan White of "Yes", Geoffrey Castle, Prezident Brown, Radio Active, JR. P, Rocker T., Marty Dread members of "Carl Denson's Tiny Universe" and original members of the legendary Seattle group "Heart" among others.
On Bass Jamaican born Lennox Holness, who moved to Seattle in the fall of 2000 and started working with Adrian Xavier soon after. He has gone on to become one of Seattle's most respected & loved bass players through his incredible playing work ethics and solid versatility.
On Drums Paul Huplar, known for his slick beats performing with Seattle Reggae band Kore Ionz.
Guitarist Brian Ray, AKA ("Sting Shark") is a founding member of the Seattle groups "Phat Sidy Smoke House" and "Marmalade". A respected producer and solo artist with a long list of self produced albums.
Add to the mix Sax & Flute man Bob Antolin and the mix is complete. Adrian will hopefully have a few more surprise guests as well.
Sarah was born and raised in the beautiful green state of Washington and makes her home on Vashon Island. She gains much influence and inspiration from the mountains, evergreens and everchanging bodies of water which surround her. Sarah's style of music is a blend of folk, soul and reggae interwoven with conscious lyrics and uplifting positivity.
She strongly belives in the healing power of music and it's ability to strengthen and unify people. " Music is a gift from Spirit, it is a common language that everyone can understand." Sarah has been composing and performing for the last 10 years and has performed throughout Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. Sarah has performed at a number of festivals including the Northwest Reggae Festival, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Seattle Hempfest, Northwest Folklife, NW Herbal Faire, Vashon Island Earthfaire, and the Okanogan Barter Faire, among many others. Sarah has contributed back-up harmonies to such artists as Prezident Brown, Jah Levi, Pure Water, Adrien Xavier, and Big Island Groove.
When Sarah is not performing she is spending time with her partner and three amazing children. Another passion besides music Sarah holds is assisting babies that are coming into the world. Sarah is a labor and delivery support doula and often will sing and chant with the laboring women as a way to keep her grounded and centered with her baby. Several of Sarah's beautiful songs have been channeled in the company of a new being about to arrive in this world. "Music is alive and constantly breathing throughout our universe. It dances among the breezes and is available to take us into higher realms. I give thanks for the gift of music and seek to be an instrument to facilitate growth, awareness and love."
Opening up this special NYE show will be DJ Sticky, who is in the groups Figures of Speech and Fyah Cracka Sounds as an MC/DJ. He is also a Co-Founder and CEO of Sick Donkey Records. From positive Hip-hop to rugged Dancehall to roots Reggae, DJ Sticky loves getting people to dance, have an Irie time, make friends and spread peace. 21+, $15 cover!
