Delilah Pearl & The Mantarays
The Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi
All-ages ’til 11pm, 21+ after that
Delilah Pearl and the Mantarays capture the golden rhythm and romance of 1940’s vocal jazz standards.
Put on your dancing shoes, your skinny ties, those sartorial dark-rimmed glasses and lets swango again like we did last night! From around Puget Sound, Delilah Pearl and the Mantarays crafts a signature sound and a style all their own. Throw in a bit of 1940’s hepcat jazz, a heap of modern soul and R&B, a smoky torch ballad and there you have the simmer, Delilah Pearl, with a smoky, alluring voice, reinventing the classic diva with shades of Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and “Lady Day”. The Mantarays, always dressed to the nines — stylish threads togged to the bricks, neat pleat with a drape shape! — deliver the goods freshened by year’s of gigging in all sort of genres from jazz to rock to soul to bossa nova to the avant garde. DPM — making hay, making waves, making whoopee since 2012.
Vocalist Delilah Pearl (Christine Goering), Nick Helgeson on drums, Michael Whitmore on guitar, Barry Cooper on coronet, flugelhorn and trumpet and Kevin Nortness on upright bass.
This is an all-ages free cover show ’til 11pm and 21+ after that.
